PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease power consumption.SOLUTION: The presence or absence of a certain predetermined subject is detected from a low-resolution image output from an image sensor in a low power consumption mode, the image sensor having operation modes comprising the low power consumption mode for outputting a low-resolution image and a conventional mode for outputting an image with a resolution higher than that of the low-resolution image. If the presence of the certain subject is detected, the operation mode of the image sensor is set to the conventional mode, and the image sensor outputs a high-resolution image.
