Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can stably achieve good transferability to a recording medium with high irregularity.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a transfer belt including an elastic layer; and a transfer part. The transfer part includes a transfer member, an opposing member, and a nip part. When an arbitrary one point located on the transfer belt passes through the nip part, the pressure distribution of pressure applied to the arbitrary one point has an increase area in which the pressure increases as time elapses, a flat area in which the pressure remains constant through the lapse of time, and a decrease area in which the pressure decreases as time elapses. The transfer belt is deformed after the change in pressure in the pressure distribution. In transferring a toner image to a recording medium with high irregularity, a time pt during which the arbitrary one point stays in the flat area is longer than a delay time dt from the time at which the arbitrary one point reaches the boundary between the increase area and flat area to the time at which the amount of deformation of the transfer belt reaches its peak.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
【課題】高い凹凸性を有する記録媒体に対する良好な転写性を安定して実現することができる画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、弾性層を含む転写ベルトと、転写部とを備える。転写部は、転写部材と、対向部材と、ニップ部とを含む。転写ベルト上に位置する任意の一点がニップ部を通過する際に任意の一点に印加される圧力の圧力分布は、時間が経過するにつれて圧力が増加する増加領域と、時間の経過に対して圧力が一定となるフラット領域と、時間の経過に対して圧力が減少する減少領域とを有する。転写ベルトは、圧力分布における圧力の変化に遅れて変形する。凹凸性の高い記録媒体にトナー像を転写する際に、任意の一点がフラット領域に滞在する時間ptが、任意の一点が増加領域とフラット領域との境界に到達した時間から、転写ベルトの変形量がピークとなった時間までの遅延時間dtよりも長い。【選択図】図7 |
