PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel and improved microalgae-culturing methods and microalgae which enable culturing microalgae in waste water containing ammonia nitrogen and phenol at a high concentration, for example in waste water from coke ovens.SOLUTION: To solve the above problem, in an aspect, the invention provides a microalgae-culturing method comprising irradiating a microalga capable of proliferating in a waste water containing 1 mg/L or more phenol and 100 mg-N/L ammonia nitrogen with light under conditions the alga is in contact with the waste water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】アンモニア態窒素及びフェノールを高濃度で含む排水、例えばコークス炉排水中で微細藻類を培養することが可能な、新規かつ改良された微細藻類の培養方法及び微細藻類を提供する。【解決手段】上記課題を解決するために、本発明のある観点によれば、フェノールを１ｍｇ／Ｌ以上、アンモニア態窒素を１００ｍｇ−Ｎ／Ｌ以上含む排水中で増殖可能な微細藻類を排水と接触させた状態で、微細藻類に光を照射することを特徴とする、微細藻類の培養方法が提供される。【選択図】図１
