Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid staining of a recording medium caused by an image which is formed on an image holder and not placed on a recording medium when forming images on the continuous recording medium.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus comprises: an image holder 1 which holds an image formed of charged particles for imaging; a medium carrying device 2 which carries a continuous recording medium R; a transfer device 3 which transfers the image G on the image holder 1 to the recording medium R; a cleaning device 4 which performs cleaning on the image holder 1; and a static elimination device 5 which is provided below the cleaning device 4, and performs static elimination on the charged particles for imaging on the image holder 1 after transfer. The image holder 1 has an image holding region W over a range wider than a width-directional size of the recording medium R, a static elimination region D by the static elimination device 5 is set to be narrower than the image holding region W, and while an image to be placed on the recording medium R is at least formed in a region, in the static elimination region D by the static elimination device 5, of the image holding region W, an image not to be placed on the recording medium R is formed wholly or partially in a region far away from the static elimination region D by the static elimination device 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】連続する記録媒体に画像を作製するに当たり、像保持体上に形成される記録媒体に載せない画像に起因して発生する記録媒体の汚れを回避する。【解決手段】作像用帯電粒子による画像を保持する像保持体１と、連続する記録媒体Ｒを搬送する媒体搬送装置２と、像保持体１上の画像Ｇを記録媒体Ｒに転写する転写装置３と、像保持体１上を清掃する清掃装置４と、清掃装置４の下方に設けられ、転写後の像保持体１上の作像用帯電粒子を除電する除電装置５と、を備え、像保持体１は、記録媒体Ｒの幅方向寸法よりも広い範囲に亘って画像保持領域Ｗを有しており、除電装置５による除電領域Ｄは画像保持領域Ｗよりも狭く設定され、画像保持領域Ｗのうち、除電装置５による除電領域Ｄ内の領域には記録媒体Ｒに載せる画像を少なくとも形成し、除電装置５による除電領域Ｄから外れた領域には記録媒体Ｒに載せない画像の全部若しくは一部を形成する。【選択図】図１
