PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and the like which are created by an external device and can accept printing of image data in which a document image and a background pattern image are combined and can output a printed matter to which the background pattern image is added.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus accepts printing of image data created in an external device and in which a document image 301 and a background pattern image 302 are combined and determines whether a specific image pattern composed of dot images exists for each predetermined area on the accepted image data to be printed.
