Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely cool an exhaust-side area in an intermediate bore portion of a cylinder head, in a three or more multi-cylinder, exhaust manifold built-in type internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An exhaust-side lower main head jacket 17 extending along a bore row, and an exhaust-side intermediate portion head jacket 18 positioned on a part of an intermediate bore portion corresponding to an intermediate cylinder bore 2b are formed at a lower portion of an exhaust port of a cylinder head 11. The exhaust-side intermediate portion head jacket 18 is communicated to an intake-side head jacket 20 through front and back bore communication passages 19. The intermediate bore portion and an exhaust-side flow channel of a block jacket 4 are communicated by a leak passage 25. As cooling water of low temperature flows into the exhaust-side intermediate portion head jacket 18 from the block jacket 4, and smoothly flows without stagnation, the exhaust side area of the part of the intermediate bore portion of highest temperature can be surely cooled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】3気筒以上の多気筒でかつ排気マニホールド内蔵式の内燃機関において、シリンダヘッドのうち中間ボア部における排気側エリアの冷却を確実化する。【解決手段】シリンダヘッド11のうち排気ポートの下方部には、ボア列に沿って長く延びる排気側下部メインヘッドジャケット17と、中間シリンダボア2bに対応した中間ボア部の箇所に位置した排気側中間部ヘッドジャケット18とが形成されている。排気側中間部ヘッドジャケット18は、前後のボア間連通路19を介して吸気側ヘッドジャケット20に連通している。中間ボア部とブロックジャケット4の排気側流路とは、リーク通路25によって連通している。ブロックジャケット4から低温の冷却水が排気側中間部ヘッドジャケット18に流入、淀みなくスムースに流れるため、最も高温になる中間ボア部の箇所の排気側エリアを的確に冷却できる。【選択図】図4
