Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium air battery which is improved in charge/discharge cycle characteristics while ensuring a high capacity.SOLUTION: A lithium air battery 1 herein disclosed comprises: a negative electrode 12 including a negative electrode layer 12a capable of occluding and releasing lithium ions; a positive electrode 13 including a carbon-containing conductive porous body, and a positive electrode layer capable of oxidizing and reducing oxygen in the air as a positive electrode active material; and a nonaqueous lithium ion conductor (e.g. an electrolyte layer 14) disposed between the negative electrode 12 and the positive electrode 13.
