Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching apparatus and a quenching method for heating a long workpiece so as not to form oxide scale on a surface thereof and uniformly cooling the heated workpiece without fire.SOLUTION: An apparatus for quenching a long workpiece by heating and cooling during transportation, comprises: a heating chamber 11; a cooling chamber 21; transporting rollers 31 having a plurality of V-shaped grooves formed on a circumferential surface thereof and being obliquely displaced from a direction orthogonal to the transporting direction of the workpiece; a heating source; an air supply system 51; a cooling nozzle 61 provided between the transporting rollers in the cooling chamber; and a liquid supply system 62 for supplying an aqueous solution for quenching. While being transported and rotated, a long workpiece placed on the grooves of the plurality of transporting rollers 31 is heated to a predetermined temperature in an oxygen-free gas atmosphere in the heating chamber 11. The workpiece is subsequently quenched by injecting an aqueous solution onto a peripheral surface thereof from the cooling nozzle 61 in the cooling chamber 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】長尺のワークの加熱をその表面に酸化スケールが生成しないように行ない、また加熱したワークの冷却を火災の危険を伴うことなく均一に行なうことができる焼入れ装置及び焼入れ方法の提供【解決手段】長尺のワークを搬送しながら加熱して冷却することにより焼入れする焼入れ装置において、加熱室11と冷却室21と、周面に複数のV字形の溝部が形成され且つワークの搬送方向と直交する方向から斜めにずれた搬送用ローラ31と、加熱源と、給気系51と、冷却室の搬送用ローラ間にて装備された冷却用ノズル61と、焼入れ用の水溶液を供給する給液系62とを備え、長尺のワークを複数の搬送用ローラ31の溝部に載せた状態で回転させつつ搬送しながら、加熱室11にて無酸素ガス雰囲気下で所定の温度に加熱した後、冷却室21にて冷却用ノズル61からワークの周面に水溶液を噴射して焼入れするようにして成ることを特徴とする焼入れ装置。【選択図】図1
