PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in image quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: image forming parts 6BK, 6M, 6C, and 6Y that form images on a primary transfer belt 5 being an image carrier; a transfer part (secondary transfer roller) 16 that transfers the images formed on the primary transfer belt 5 to a sheet 4 being a print medium; a feeding part (feed rollers 2 and 3) that draw out the sheets 4 one by one from a storage part in which the sheets 4 are stored to be fed to the transfer part 16; and a slippage prediction control part 35 that calculates, at the start of printing, predicted slippage being a predicted value of slippage occurring between the feeding part and sheet 4, calculates an image forming interval being an interval in forming images on the primary transfer belt 5 on the basis of the calculated predicted slippage, and controls formation of the images on the primary transfer belt 5 performed by the image forming parts 6BK, 6M, 6C, and 6Y on the basis of the calculated image formation interval.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】画像品質の低下を防止する。【解決手段】像担持体である一次転写ベルト５上に画像を形成する画像形成部６ＢＫ、６Ｍ、６Ｃ、６Ｙと、一次転写ベルト５上に画像を印刷媒体である用紙４に転写する転写部（二次転写ローラ）１６と、用紙４が収納された収納部から用紙４を１枚ずつ繰り出して転写部１６に給送する給送部（給送ローラ２、３）と、印刷開始時に、給送部と用紙４との間に生じる滑り量の予測値である予測滑り量を算出し、算出された予測滑り量に基づいて一次転写ベルト５上への画像の形成間隔である画像形成間隔を算出し、算出された画像形成間隔に基づいて画像形成部６ＢＫ、６Ｍ、６Ｃ、６Ｙによる一次転写ベルト５上への画像の形成を制御する。【選択図】図１
