Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence of underfill in a forging.SOLUTION: A forging apparatus is provided that comprises a stationery lower die 5 as a first metal mold and a movable upper die 6 as a second metal mold, and pressurizes and forms an intermediate molding MM by a lower die molding surface 5a and an upper die molding surface 6a of the stationery lower die 5 and the movable upper die 6 which face each other. In a hot forging machine 1 to which the forging apparatus is applied, the stationery lower die 5 of the stationery lower die 5 and the movable upper die 6 is provided with an opening/closing barrier 7 which is energized toward the movable upper die 6.
