PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for ejecting liquid, capable of effectively removing droplets adhering to a nozzle face even at a wiping direction downstream side of a wiping member, in which the wiping member gets dirty by wiped droplets.SOLUTION: A device for ejecting liquid includes: a wiping unit 100 which has a recording head 34 having a nozzle 38 ejecting liquid, a cap member having a nip part abutting on the recording head 34 so as to surround the nozzle 38, a wiping member 101 wiping the nozzle face of the recording head 34, and a winding member 103 winding the wiping member 101; and a movement means which moves relatively the recording head 34 and the wiping unit 100 in a state of abutting the wiping member 101 on the nozzle face of the recording head 34. When wiping with the wiping member 101, a place on which the nip part of the cap member abuts, on the nozzle face of the recording head 34 while moving relatively the recording head 34 and the wiping unit 100 with the movement means, a control of wiping the wiping member 101 with the winding member 103 is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 【課題】拭き取った液滴により払拭部材が汚れてくる払拭部材の払拭方向下流側においてもノズル面に付着した液滴を効果的に除去できる液体を吐出する装置を提供する。【解決手段】液体を吐出するノズル３８を有した記録ヘッド３４と、ノズル３８を囲むように記録ヘッド３４に当接するニップ部を有するキャップ部材と、記録ヘッド３４のノズル面を払拭する払拭部材１０１と、払拭部材１０１を巻き取る巻き取り部材１０３と、を有する払拭ユニット１００と、記録ヘッド３４のノズル面に払拭部材１０１を当接させた状態で、記録ヘッド３４と払拭ユニット１００とを相対移動させる移動手段とを有する。移動手段で記録ヘッド３４と払拭ユニット１００とを相対移動させつつ、記録ヘッド３４のノズル面においてキャップ部材のニップ部が当接した箇所を払拭部材１０１で払拭する際、払拭部材１０１を巻き取り部材１０３によって巻き取る制御を行う。【選択図】図７
