Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and downsize a structure of an electrostatic capacitance detection device.SOLUTION: An electrostatic capacitance detection device 20 includes a first electrode 1 and a second electrode 2 partially facing each other across a conveyance path 5. An oscillation circuit allows the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2 to form an electric field therebetween. A detection circuit detects a change in electrostatic capacitance between the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2. A first flat plate 6 is an insulating flat plate having the first electrode 1 formed thereon. A second flat plate 7 is an insulating flat plate having the second electrode 2 formed thereon.
