Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate a load of equipment, and to enable large reduction without causing a slip.SOLUTION: A hot slab width reducer being a device for reducing a width of a hot slab by using a pair of width reduction metal molds which are oppositely arranged in a width direction of the hot slab, and intermittently reduce a width of the hot slab from both sides in the width direction while transporting the hot slab in a hot-rolling process comprises: a pair of the width reduction metal molds in which a metal mold parallel part which is parallel with a face contacting with the hot slab in a slab transport direction, a first metal mold inclination part expanding in the width direction toward a reverse direction of the slab transport direction, an inter-inclination part metal mold parallel part, and a second metal mold inclination part expanding in the width direction toward the reverse direction of the slab transport direction are sequentially formed from a tip side of the slab transport direction; and a control part for elongating a transport pitch for transporting the hot slab at each time of width reduction longer than a length of the first metal mold inclination part in the slab transport direction, and shortens the transport pitch shorter than a length of the inter-inclination part metal mold parallel part in the slab transport direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】設備負荷を軽減し、スリップを起こすことなく、大幅圧下を可能とする。【解決手段】熱間圧延工程で、熱間スラブの幅方向に相対峙して設置され、熱間スラブを搬送させながら幅方向の両側から間欠的に熱間スラブを幅圧下する1対の幅圧下用金型を用いて、熱間スラブを幅圧下する装置であって、熱間スラブと接する面に、スラブ搬送方向に平行な金型平行部と、スラブ搬送方向の逆方向に向かって幅方向に広がる第1金型傾斜部と、傾斜部間金型平行部と、スラブ搬送方向の逆方向に向かって幅方向に広がる第2金型傾斜部と、がスラブ搬送方向先端側から順に形成されている1対の幅圧下用金型と、幅圧下1回毎に熱間スラブを搬送する搬送ピッチを、第1金型傾斜部のスラブ搬送方向の長さよりも長く、かつ傾斜部間金型平行部のスラブ搬送方向の長さよりも短くする制御部と、を備える熱間スラブ用幅圧下装置。【選択図】図1
