Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module capable of suppressing optical loss due to temperature change.SOLUTION: An optical module comprises: a substrate 120 on which an optical waveguide 121 is formed; a housing 130 storing the substrate, and including on its side wall an encapsulation through passage 131 extending in a direction intersecting the optical waveguide; a ferrule 140 storing an end of an optical fiber 110a; and an optical path conversion element 150 fixed to the ferrule, inserted through the through passage of the housing and fixed to an end face of the substrate closer to the end of the optical waveguide, and converting an optical path of light emitted from the end of the optical fiber stored in the ferrule toward the end of the optical waveguide, the element smaller in size than the width of the substrate the width of the ferrule along the longitudinal direction of the substrate. The end of the optical waveguide is arranged in a position closer to the through passage of the housing than a center part of the substrate in the width direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】温度変化に起因した光損失の変動を抑える光モジュールを提供する。【解決手段】光モジュールは、光導波路121が形成された基板120と、基板を収容し、側壁に光導波路に交差する方向に延伸する封止用の貫通路131が形成された筐体130と、光ファイバ110aの端部を収納するフェルール140と、フェルールに固定され、筐体の貫通路から挿入されて基板の光導波路の端部側の端面に固定され、フェルールに収容された光ファイバの端部から出射される光の光路を光導波路の端部に向けて変換する素子であって、基板の幅及び基板の長手方向に沿ったフェルールの幅よりもサイズが小さい光路変換素子150とを有し、光導波路の端部は、基板の幅方向の中央部分よりも筐体の貫通路に近い位置に配置される。【選択図】図1 |
