PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian stay space which is partitioned safely from automobile traffic in a street in an urban area so as to form an attractive streetscape in which visitors can comfortably enjoy taking a walk and doing shopping.SOLUTION: A walking floor 3 made of a material different from a pavement surface of a pedestrian way 12 is provided in a region having a substantially rectangular shape in plan view along a traffic boundary. Te entire long side on the side of a roadway 11 of the region, and the portion of the short side connecting to the long side which is at 1.5 m or more on the side of the roadway 11 are surrounded continuously by a vehicle protective boyd 4 which is raised to the height of 1 m or more from the surface of the walking floor 3. A bench 7 and the like is placed in a space surrounded by the vehicle protective body 4 to make the space safe and comfortable. The space is made available for use in having a break, getting together to have a pleasant time, having a light meal, etc.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】都市部の街路に、自動車交通から安全に区画された歩行者用滞留スペースを設けて、来街者が快適に散策や買物を楽しむことができる魅力的な街並みを形成する。【解決手段】歩車境界に沿う平面視略矩形の領域に、歩道１２の舗装面とは材質を異にする歩行床３を設けて、該領域の車道１１側の長辺の全部と、該長辺に接続する短辺の車道１１側１．５ｍ以上の部分を、歩行床３の表面から１ｍ以上の高さまで立ち上がる車両防護体４によって途切れなく包囲する。車両防護体４によって囲まれた空間にベンチ７等を設置することにより、安全で寛ぎやすい空間となし、この空間を休憩や団らん、軽い飲食等に供する。【選択図】 図２
