PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feature quantity extraction device capable of appropriately authenticating an object, and an authentication system.SOLUTION: A feature quantity extraction device according to the present embodiment comprises a generator, a determiner and an extractor. The generator changes a direction of an object in a first image including an image of the object such that the object faces forward on the basis of a feature point of the object detected from image data of the first image, and generates a second image obtained by changing a size of the object in the first image to a predetermined size. The determiner determines whether or not the object facing forward is present in the second image on the basis of the second image.
