Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator that can improve safety by reliably locking a heat insulating door when an earthquake occurs.SOLUTION: A refrigerator 1 comprises: a main body part 2 including a storage chamber opened at the front; a heat insulating door 15 pivotally supported by the main body part 2 with a vertical pivot support shaft C to open/close the front of the storage chamber 5; and a lock mechanism 40 including a lever member 43 capable of rotating in a vertical plane, and attached to one of the main body part 2 and the heat insulating door 15. When the lock mechanism 40 vibrates, a front end of the lever member 43 moves up and down and locks a closed state of the heat insulating door 15.
