Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electrical discharge machine and a wire electrical discharge machining method capable of both maintaining the accuracy of machining and automatically detecting the position of a workpiece even when there is an inclination error of the workpiece relative to a mounting surface.SOLUTION: A wire electrical discharge machine 10 includes: an offset storage unit 51 for storing, as an offset value, a relative position in an XY plane direction between a probe 64 detecting a contact state with a workpiece W and an upper guide unit 60 before a relative position between the upper guide unit 60 and a lower guide unit 66 is changed; an inclination information acquisition unit 52 for acquiring inclination information indicating an inclination state of the workpiece W relative to a mounting surface 30; and an offset correction unit 55 for acquiring an offset value corresponding to the inclination state of the workpiece W after the relative position has been changed by correcting the offset value using the acquired inclination information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 【課題】載置面に対して被加工物の傾斜誤差が生じている場合であっても、加工精度の維持及びワーク位置の自動検出を両立可能なワイヤ放電加工機及びワイヤ放電加工方法を提供する。【解決手段】ワイヤ放電加工機10は、上側ガイド部60と下側ガイド部66の間の相対位置を変更する前における、被加工物Wとの当接状態を検出したプローブ64と上側ガイド部60の間におけるXY平面方向の相対位置をオフセット値として記憶するオフセット記憶部51と、載置面30に対する被加工物Wの傾斜状態を示す傾斜情報を取得する傾斜情報取得部52と、取得された傾斜情報を用いてオフセット値を補正することで、上記した相対位置を変更した後における、被加工物Wの傾斜状態に応じたオフセット値を得るオフセット補正部55を備える。【選択図】図10
