Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power consumption of an information processing system.SOLUTION: The information processing system is communicable with an external device through a network. The information processing system is operable in at least three operation modes including a first mode, a second mode for which power consumption is smaller than that of the first mode, and a third mode for which power consumption is smaller than that of the second mode and in which communication through a network is not performed. The information processing system comprises a mode control unit and a second mode processing unit. When the information processing system operates in the third mode, the mode control unit switches the operation mode to the second mode on a regular basis or according to a predetermined time schedule.
