PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can stabilize temporal and environmental variations in image density of a black toner.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a toner; an image carrier; a toner image creation device that creates a toner image on the image carrier; a controller that controls the toner image creation device to create a toner pattern; and a detection device that detects the toner pattern on the image carrier. The toner image creation device includes developing devices each including a developing roller; the controller creates the toner pattern with the toner image creation device, detects the density of the toner pattern with the detection device, and adjusts an image forming condition for the toner image creation device on the basis of a result of detection; the detection device includes a light emitting element and a reflected light sensor; the toner is a black fluorescent toner containing a black pigment as a colorant and a fluorescent agent; the fluorescent agent absorbs irradiation light from the light emitting element to emit fluorescence; the fluorescence spectrum thereof is a wavelength detectable by the reflected light sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】ブラックトナーの経時的及び環境的な画像濃度変動を安定化させることができる画像形成装置の提供。【解決手段】トナー、像担持体、像担持体上にトナー像を作成するトナー像作成装置、トナー像作成装置を制御してトナーパターンを作成するコントローラ及び像担持体上のトナーパターンを検知する検知装置を有する画像形成装置であって、トナー像作成装置は、現像ローラを備えた現像装置を有し、コントローラは、トナーパターンを前記トナー像作成装置により作成して、トナーパターンの濃度を前記検知装置により検知し、その検知結果をもとに前記トナー像作成装置の作像条件を調整し、前記検知装置は、発光素子と反射光センサを有し、トナーが、着色剤として黒色顔料及び蛍光剤を含有する黒色蛍光トナーであり、蛍光剤は、発光素子の照射光を吸収して蛍光発光し、その蛍光スペクトルは前記反射光センサで検知できる波長である画像形成装置。【選択図】なし
