Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image projection apparatus capable of achieving extension of a production life and suppressing power consumption while achieving high resolution corresponding to a moving image.SOLUTION: An image projection apparatus 1 comprises: a movable unit 55 having a DMD 551 configured to generate a projection image corresponding to a moving image, by using light of a light source 30, and movable relative to an illuminating optical system unit; a video signal control section 11 configured to generate a control instruction for display control of a projection image, on the basis of a moving image to be projected; and a movable unit control section 25 configured to control movement of the movable unit 55 on the basis of a control instruction. In a case where a moving image satisfies a predetermined condition, the video signal control section 11 generates, as a control instruction, a first control instruction not to move the movable unit 55.
