Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating a plurality of halocarbons in an azeotropic composition.SOLUTION: A separation method includes; adding a third component to first halocarbon and second halocarbon to form a ternary azeotropic composition; and remaining a part of the first halocarbon and removing substantially all of the second halocarbon. Specifically, the method includes: adding the third component to the binary azeotropic composition; and separating 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane (HCFC-244bb) from 2-chloro-3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HCFC-1233xf), by normal distillation.
