PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that is able to output both a content written in advance on a sheet and character information written on the sheet by a digital pen.SOLUTION: A digital pen is able to write a character on a format sheet, and is able to store, as a handwriting image 30, character information written on the format sheet and a position information indicating the position of a character in the sheet. An image forming apparatus comprises a communication section for communicating with the digital pen, and a control section for controlling the image forming apparatus. The control section receives the handwriting image 30 from the digital pen via the communication section, acquires a sheet image 35 showing the sheet, positions the handwriting image 30 on the sheet image 35 on the basis of the character position information.
