PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal device capable of suppressing an interference of a case and a gasket.SOLUTION: A mechanical seal device has a mating ring 30 which has a sliding surface 30a vertical to a shaft; a seal ring 40 which has a sliding surface 41a vertical to the shaft contacting with the sliding surface 30a of the mating ring 30; a case 6 which holds the seal ring 40 so as not to rotate; and a gasket 50 which holds the mating ring 30 in the housing 1. The gasket 50 is made from an elastic material 52 including a reinforcing ring 51, and the elastic material 52 has backward moving surfaces 53b and 54b extending to the opposite side in an axial direction in regard to the seal ring 40 than the reinforcing ring 51.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】ケースとガスケットとの干渉を抑制できるメカニカルシール装置を提供する。【解決手段】軸に垂直な摺動面３０ａを有するメイティングリング３０と、軸方向に移動可能に設けられ、メイティングリング３０の摺動面３０ａと接触する軸に垂直な摺動面４１ａを有するシールリング４０と、シールリング４０を軸と回転不能に保持するケース６と、メイティングリング３０をハウジング１に保持するガスケット５０と、を有し、ガスケット５０は、補強環５１を内在する弾性材５２からなり、弾性材５２が補強環５１よりもシールリング４０に対し軸方向反対側に延びる後退面５３ｂ，５４ｂを有する。【選択図】図１
