Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing racemic α-amino acid that becomes a detergent or a precursor of a detergent having no or less coagulation tendency or the like at a good yield.SOLUTION: A method of producing racemic α-amino acid or glycin is a method of making a corresponding α-hydroxy carboxylic acid selected from hydroxy acetic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, α-hydroxyglutaric acid, isocitric acid, tartoronic acid, and tartaric acid, or a salt of at least one kind of corresponding α-hydroxycarboxylic acid react under presence of at least one kind of nitrogen compound (c) selected from primary and secondary amine sand ammonia and hydrogen, under the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst containing at least one kind of transition metal. The nitrogen compound (c) is selected from primary and secondary amines and ammonia, a reaction is performed at a temperature of from 150 o 280°C and under pressure of from 100 to 300 bar, and the pressure is set by injecting a hydrogen gas or a hydrogen-containing gas into a reaction system.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】凝集傾向が無いか少ない洗剤及び清浄剤用前駆体となるラセミα−アミノ酸等を好収率で製造する方法の提供。【解決手段】ラセミα−アミノ酸又はグリシンの製造方法であって、第1級及び第2級アミン並びにアンモニアから選択される少なくとも1種窒素化合物(c)と共に水素の存在下、少なくとも1種の遷移金属を含有する不均一触媒の存在下において、ヒドロキシ酢酸、乳酸、リンゴ酸、α−ヒドロキシグルタル酸、イソクエン酸、タルトロン酸及び酒石酸から選択される対応するα−ヒドロキシカルボン酸、又は、少なくとも1種の対応するα−ヒドロキシカルボン酸の塩を反応させる方法。前記窒素化合物(c)は第1級及び第2級アミン並びにアンモニアから選択され、150〜280℃の温度で、100〜300barの圧力で反応が行われ、前記圧力が水素ガス又は水素含有ガスを反応系へ注入して設定される、ラセミα−アミノ酸又はグリシンの製造方法。【選択図】なし
