Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video editing device capable of readily arranging characters at easily-readable character intervals corresponding to character forms even if a font does not have information on pair kerning values.SOLUTION: A video editing device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a temporary arrangement unit that, when a character string is input, generates character forms of characters according to font information corresponding to the character string and temporarily arranges the character forms in a horizontal direction; a position identification unit that identifies a position in a vertical direction where distance between two adjacent character forms along the horizontal direction is minimum every two adjacent character forms; and an arrangement determination unit that obtains a left margin value and a right margin value of each character included in the font information corresponding to the input character string, adjusts the distance between the two adjacent character forms at the position identified by the position identification unit by using a total value of the right margin value of a left character form of the two character forms and the left margin value of a right character form, and thereby determines arrangement of the character forms of the characters.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】ペアカーニング値の情報を持たないフォントであっても、字形に応じて読みやすい文字間隔で容易に文字配置を行うことができる映像編集装置を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の一実施形態に係る映像編集装置は、文字列が入力されると、前記文字列に対応するフォント情報に応じて各文字の字形を生成し、これらの字形を水平方向に仮配置する仮配置部と、隣接する2字形ごとに、前記水平方向に沿った前記隣接する2字形の距離の最小値を与える垂直方向における位置を特定する位置特定部と、入力された前記文字列に対応するフォント情報に含まれた各文字の左マージン値および右マージン値を取得し、前記位置特定部により特定された位置における前記隣接する2字形の距離を前記隣接する2字形の左側の字形の右マージン値と右側の字形の左マージン値との合計値を用いて調整することにより、各文字の字形の配置を決定する配置決定部と、を備える。【選択図】 図1
