Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reading device that can smoothly incline a reading element while moving the reading element between a first transparent member and an inclined second transparent member with less impact and friction, is inexpensive, and does not easily fail, and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A holding member 43 holding a flat bed contact glass 41 and a DF contact glass 42 provided in an inclined state includes a frame-like surface part 43d that projects toward an integrated optical scanning unit 47 with respect to a surface of the flat bed contact glass 41 on the integrated optical scanning unit 47 and has a portion close to the flat bed contact glass 41 smoothly connected to a plane part 43c. The integrated optical scanning unit 47 moves in close adhesion to the flat bed contact glass 41 and moves in close adhesion with the holding member 43 with a gap with the DF contact glass 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
