PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder which achieves high workability for replacement of a separation pad, and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A separation part 44, which contacts with a feeding roller 43 to form a nip, is provided with a separation pad 45, a first holding member 46 which holds the separation pad 45, a second holding member 47 which detachably holds the first holding member 46 so that the first holding member 46 can move in a vertical direction, and a first compression spring 48 (a biasing member) which biases the first holding member 46 in a direction such that the first holding member 46 separates from the second holding member 47. When the separation part 44 contacts with the feeding roller 43, the first holding member 46 and the second holding member 47 contact with each other (or move close to each other). When the separation part 44 does not contact with the feeding roller 43, the first holding member 46 separates from the second holding member 47.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】分離パッドの交換作業性が高い、給紙装置、及び、画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】給送ローラ４３に当接してニップを形成する分離部４に、分離パッド４５と、分離パッド４５を保持する第１保持部材４６と、第１保持部材４６を上下方向に移動可能に着脱可能に保持する第２保持部材４７と、第２保持部材４７に対して第１保持部材４６を離間する方向に付勢する第１圧縮スプリング４８（付勢部材）と、が設けられている。そして、分離部４４が給送ローラ４３に当接している状態のときには、第１保持部材４６と第２保持部材４７とが当接（又は、近接）して、分離部４４が給送ローラ４３に当接していない状態のときには、第１保持部材４６が第２保持部材４７に対して離間する。【選択図】図３
