Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surge protection element capable of suppressing short circuit caused by adhesion of metal components scattered by arc discharge.SOLUTION: The surge protection element includes: an insulating tube 2; and a pair of sealing electrodes 3 for sealing a discharge control gas in the interior thereof by closing both end opening portions of the insulating tube. The pair of sealing electrodes has a pair of projecting electrode portions 5 projecting inward and facing each other. At least one protruding portion 2a protruding radially inward and extending in the circumferential direction is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the insulating tube. As a result, it is difficult for metal components scattered in arc discharge to adhere to the shadowed portion of the projecting portion, so that it is difficult to form an energizing circuit by the deposited metal, making it possible to suppress short-circuiting.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】 アーク放電で飛散した金属成分の付着によるショートを抑制可能なサージ防護素子を提供すること。【解決手段】 絶縁性管2と、絶縁性管の両端開口部を閉塞して内部に放電制御ガスを封止する一対の封止電極3とを備え、一対の封止電極が、内方に突出し互いに対向した一対の突出電極部5を有し、絶縁性管の内周面に、半径方向内方に突出し周方向に延在した突出部2aが少なくとも1つ形成されている。これにより、アーク放電で飛散した金属成分が突出部の影になる部分には付着し難いことから付着金属による通電回路が形成され難く、ショートしてしまうことを抑制することができる。【選択図】図1
