Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen storage battery arranged to use a rare earth-Ca-Mg-Ni based alloy as an active material of a negative electrode, which causes no remarkable drop in discharge capacity during a time from an initial stage to a time for performing about 10 cycles of charging/discharging cycles.SOLUTION: A battery according to the invention comprises: a negative electrode including a hydrogen-occluding alloy in which rare earth-Ca-Mg-Ni based GdCophases including one or more elements selected from a group consisting of Y, Pr, Nd and Sm, and CeNiphases are layered; and an alkali electrolyte solution containing 2.0 mol/l or more of sodium ions.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】希土類−Ca−Mg−Ni系合金を負極の活物質として用いたニッケル水素蓄電池において、初期から10サイクル程度のサイクル充放電をおこなう間における顕著な放電容量の低下が発生しないニッケル水素蓄電池を提供することを目的とする。【解決手段】 本発明にかかる電池は、Y、Pr、NdおよびSmからなる群より選択される1種又は2種以上の元素を含有する希土類−Ca−Mg−Ni系のGd2Co7相およびCe2Ni7相が積層されてなる水素吸蔵合金を含む負極と、ナトリウムイオンを2.0mol/l以上含むアルカリ電解液とを備えることを特徴とする。【選択図】図1
