PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit an engine automatic stop on the basis of a current gear stage which is formed at a transmission, in a vehicle employing a shift lever of a shift-by-wire system.SOLUTION: A vehicle control device includes: an automatic stop/restart control part for automatically stopping and restarting an engine; an acquisition part for acquiring information indicating a gear stage which is formed in a transmission; and a permission part for permitting an engine automatic stop by the automatic stop/restart control part when the gear stage formed in the transmission is changed to a non-traveling gear stage on the basis of the information which is acquired by the acquisition part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】シフトバイワイヤ式のシフトレバーを採用する車両において、変速機で形成されている現在のギア段に基づきエンジン自動停止を許可できるにすること。【解決手段】車両制御装置は、エンジンの自動停止及び再始動を行う自動停止・再始動制御部と、変速機で形成されているギア段を表す情報を取得する取得部と、取得部により取得された情報に基づいて、変速機で形成されているギア段が走行用のギア段から非走行用のギア段に変化した場合に、自動停止・再始動制御部によるエンジン自動停止を許可する許可部とを含む。【選択図】図２
