Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert of favorable discharge processability which stabilizes cutting chips by the grooving work of the outer peripheral surface of a cutting workpiece, develops no lateral deviation, and turns in a spiral spring form in a densely wound state.SOLUTION: A rake face 30 comprises a pair of right and left protrusions 50 arranged in symmetry with a straight line G drawn forward and rearward in between and orthogonally to a front cutting edge 21 at the intermediate position of the edge width of the front edge 21. Each protrusion 50 extends continuously forward and rearward and, when the rake face 30 is cut in a straight line parallel with the front cutting edge 21, shows a rectangular cross-sectional shape. An interval K between the apices 52 of the rectangles of the respective protrusions 50 is smaller from forward to rearward. Each protrusion 50 gets the inclination angles of both slope faces 54, 55 in the rectangle cross section larger from forward to rearward, and the angle between the apices 52 in the cross sections of the rectangles smaller from forward to rearward to be sharp. This pair of protrusions 50 enhance the discharge processibility of cutting chips.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】被削材の外周面の溝入れ加工で、切り屑が、安定し、横ぶれもなく、ち密な巻状態の、ぜんまい状のものとなる排出処理性のよい切削インサートを提供する。【解決手段】すくい面30に、前切れ刃21の刃幅の中間位置で前切れ刃21に垂直に、前後に引いた直線Gを挟んで対称配置をなす左右一対の隆起部50を備える。各隆起部50は、前後に連なって延び、かつ、すくい面30を前切れ刃21に平行な直線で切断したときに三角山の断面形状を呈するものとした。左右の各隆起部50の三角山の頂部52相互の間隔Kが前方から後方に向かうに従って小さく、しかも、各隆起部50は、その三角山の断面における両斜面54,55の傾斜角が前方から後方に向かうに従い大きくなり、該三角山の断面における頂部52の挟角が前方から後方に向かうに従い小さく、鋭利となるものとした。この一対の隆起部50にて切り屑の排出処理性が高められる。【選択図】図3
