PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shell feed type gas separation membrane module capable of carrying out the efficient gas separation of a hollow fiber membrane.SOLUTION: An objective shell feed type gas separation membrane module 1 comprises: a hollow fiber membrane element 15 in which both ends of a hollow fiber membrane bundle bundling plural hollow fiber membranes are firmly fixed and embedded by first and second tube plates 21, 22, and a core tube 70 is disposed at a nearly middle part; and a container 10 in which the hollow fiber membrane element 15 is stored. The module carries out gas separation by feeding a gas mixture to the outside space of a hollow fiber membrane 14 in the container. The hollow fiber membrane 14 opens at a first tube plate 21, but does not open at a second tube plate 22.
