PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a counter capable of using, during operation of an accounting device, a baggage placement part used for placing a baggage of a customer in place of a guide board to notify the customer of stopping the accounting device when stopping the accounting device.SOLUTION: A counter includes: a counter body on which an accounting device is placed; a counter surface provided on an upper face of the counter body; a plate-like baggage placement part that is provided at a customer's front face of the counter body beneath the counter surface, and having a baggage placement face for placing a baggage of a customer in accounting by the accounting device; and a support mechanism that supports the baggage placement part in such a manner as to move a position thereof between a horizontal position for positioning the baggage placement face at a position parallel to the counter surface, and a perpendicular position for positioning the baggage placement face at a position orthogonal to the counter surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】会計装置の稼働中は客の手荷物を置くために利用する荷物置き部を、会計装置を休止する際にはその旨を客に知らせるための案内板の代わりに利用することができるカウンタを提供する。【解決手段】カウンタは、会計装置を載置するカウンタ本体と、前記カウンタ本体の上面に設けられたカウンタ面と、前記カウンタ本体の客側正面であって前記カウンタ面の下方に設けられ、前記会計装置における会計時に客の手荷物を置くための荷物置き面を有する板状の荷物置き部と、前記カウンタ面に対して平行な位置に前記荷物置き面を位置付ける水平位置と、前記カウンタ面に対して直交する位置に前記荷物置き面を位置付ける垂直位置との間で前記荷物置き部をそれぞれ位置移動可能に支持する支持機構と、を備える。【選択図】図６
