Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure protection performance for a passenger while achieving lightweight and driver's visibility through a pillar.SOLUTION: In a front pillar 30, a pillar part 32 has a hollow structure and an outside wall 36 and an inside wall 38 of the pillar part 32 are formed from transparent glass-fiber-reinforced resin. This makes it possible to view the outside of the vehicle through the pillar part 32 while achieving a reduction in the weight of the front pillar 30. In this case, the tensile strength of the outside wall 36 is set lower than the tensile strength of the inside wall 38. Therefore, the outside wall 36 is rendered likely to be bent and the inside wall 38 is rendered unlikely to be bent in the event of head-on collision. As a result, in the event of head-on collision, the outside wall 36 is mainly bent and the inside wall 38 is inhibited from being bent. In other words, the pillar part 32 can be inhibited from entirely bent and broken. Moreover, in the pillar part 32, since the inside wall 38 on a cabin C is inhibited from being bent, protection performance for a driver P (passenger) can be ensured.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
【課題】運転者のピラーを通した視認性及び軽量化を図りつつ乗員に対する保護性能を確保する。【解決手段】フロントピラー30では、ピラー部32が中空構造を成しており、ピラー部32の外側壁36及び内側壁38が、透明のガラス繊維強化樹脂で構成されている。これにより、フロントピラー30の軽量化を図りつつ、ピラー部32を通して車両外側を視認できる。ここで、外側壁36の引張強度が内側壁38の引張強度に比べて低く設定されている。このため、前面衝突時において、外側壁36を折れ易くさせ且つ内側壁38を折れ難くできる。その結果、前面衝突時では、主として外側壁36が折れて、内側壁38の折れが抑制される。換言すると、ピラー部32が全体的に折れて破壊することを抑制できる。しかも、ピラー部32では、キャビンC側の内側壁38の折れが抑制されるため、運転者P(乗員)に対する保護性能を確保できる。【選択図】図1 |
