PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide developing means that suppresses a detection error of a toner density caused by a change in gap between a detection surface of toner density detection means and a stirring and conveyance member, so as to improve the accuracy in detecting a toner density.SOLUTION: An apparatus housing 140 comprises therein: a developing roll 141; a supply and conveyance member 142 that supplies a developer 4 to the developing roll 141; a stirring and conveyance member 143 that conveys the developer while delivering the developer 4 to the supply and conveyance member 142; and a toner density sensor 170 that is exposed on an inner wall of the apparatus housing 140 and detects a toner density.
