PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast water treatment apparatus equipped with a configuration for enhancing filter cleaning effect and an operational method for the same.SOLUTION: A ballast water treatment apparatus comprises a cylindrical pleat filter retained to be rotatable around a cylindrical shaft, a drive mechanism that rotates the pleat filter, a treatment object water channel that makes treatment object water pass through to generate ballast water, a treatment object water nozzle extended from the treatment object water channel to flow out the treatment object water toward the outer peripheral surface of the pleat filter, a case having an outer cylinder provided for surrounding the pleat filter to have the nozzle port of the treatment object water nozzle inside, a filtrate water channel that leads filtrate water having penetrated the pleat filter outside of the case from inside of the cylinder of the pleat filter, an exhaust channel that exhausts water not having filtered by the pleat filter outside of the case, and a differential pressure adjustment mechanism for adjusting a differential pressure between the pressure of the treatment object water in the nozzle port of the treatment object water nozzle and the vessel pressure of the treatment object water in the case.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 【課題】フィルタの洗浄効果を高めるための構成を備えたバラスト水処理装置およびその運転方法を提供する。【解決手段】バラスト水処理装置は、円筒軸を中心に回転可能に保持された円筒状のプリーツフィルタと、プリーツフィルタを回転させる駆動機構と、バラスト水を生成するための被処理水を通す被処理水流路と、被処理水流路から延設されプリーツフィルタの外周面に向けて被処理水を流出する被処理水ノズルと、プリーツフィルタを囲むように設けられて被処理水ノズルのノズル口を内部に備えた外筒部を有するケースと、プリーツフィルタを透過した濾過水をプリーツフィルタの円筒内部からケースの外部へ導出する濾過水流路と、プリーツフィルタで濾過されなかった排出水をケースの外部へ排出する排出流路と、被処理水ノズルのノズル口における被処理水の圧力とケース内の被処理水の容器圧との間の差圧を調整するための差圧調整機構とを備える。【選択図】図８
