Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an optical path difference from occurring between two linearly polarized lights without using a plurality of birefringent materials when separating light into two linearly polarized lights.SOLUTION: A spectroscopic instrument comprises a birefringent material 50 and an optical member 60. The birefringent material 50 separates light from a polarizer 40 into an ordinary ray o and an extraordinary ray e. The birefringent material 50 emits a first outgoing beam that includes an ordinary ray o component and a second outgoing beam that includes an extraordinary ray e component. The optical member 60 rotates the vibration direction of the first outgoing beam and the vibration direction of the second outgoing beam. The optical member 60 causes the first outgoing beam and the second outgoing beam to enter the birefringent material 50. In the spectroscopic instrument, the optical path length through which the first outgoing beam passes from when it is emitted from the birefringent material 50 to when it enters the birefringent material 50 and the optical path length through which the second outgoing beam passes from when it is emitted from the birefringent material 50 to when it enters the birefringent material 50 are equal to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】光を2つの直線偏光に分離する場合に、複数の複屈折材料を用いなくても、2つの直線偏光の間に光路差が生じないようにする。【解決手段】分光装置は、複屈折材料50及び光学部材60を備えている。複屈折材料50は、偏光子40からの光を常光線o及び異常光線eに分離する。複屈折材料50は、常光線oの成分を含む第1出射光、及び異常光線eの成分を含む第2出射光を出射する。光学部材60は、第1出射光の振動方向及び第2出射光の振動方向を回転させる。光学部材60は、第1出射光及び第2出射光を複屈折材料50に入射させる。この分光装置では、複屈折材料50から出射してから複屈折材料50に入射するまでに第1出射光が通過する光路長と、複屈折材料50から出射してから複屈折材料50に入射するまでに第2出射光が通過する光路長とが互いに等しい。【選択図】図1
