Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a failure of a switch element which switches the capacitance of a flying capacitor.SOLUTION: A power monitoring device includes: a first capacitor which is connected to an insulated power supply; and a second capacitor which is connected to the power supply and also connected to the first capacitor through a changeover switch. The power monitoring device controls the changeover switch to acquire a first voltage value obtained by charging using a first charging route which includes the first capacitor without including the second capacitor. The power monitoring device controls the changeover switch to acquire a second voltage value obtained by charging using a second charging route which includes the second capacitor and the first capacitor.
