Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and an RF coil apparatus capable of grasping defects of an RF coil unit.SOLUTION: An RF coil unit 8A has a plurality of reception channels CH1 to CH4 for receiving a plurality of MR signals respectively corresponding to a plurality of RF waves having different transmission intensities. An arithmetic circuit 9 has at least an index value acquisition function 91 and an abnormal channel determination function 95. By the execution of the index value acquisition function 91, the arithmetic circuit 9 acquires a plurality of reception intensity index values respectively corresponding to the plurality of MR signals for respective reception channels.
