Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing the occurrence of cracks or the like, even when a base material is made of a brittle material and preventing the occurrence of heat deviation, even when a recording material having such a size that a recording material edge passes through the vicinity of each center of a plurality of heating areas is continuously fixed.SOLUTION: A fixing device 12 includes a fixing member 28, a pressure member 30 which forms a fixing nip part SN between the pressure member 30 and the fixing member, a heating member 56 which is extended in a direction orthogonal to a recording material conveyance direction and comes into contact with the inner peripheral surface of the fixing member, to transmit heat, a heat transmission member 50 which is in contact with the heating member and uniformly transmits the heat of the heating member, and a support member 57 which supports the heating member and the heat transmission member from the surface of the heat transmission member which is not in contact with the heating member. The heating member includes a base material 56b, a resistance heating element 56a formed on the base material, and an OC layer 56c covering the resistance heating element 56a. The support member is in contact with the surface area of the heat transmission member with a required support interval in the recording material conveyance direction, the surface area of the heat transmission member which is not in contact with the support member is in contact with the surface area of the base material, and an area where the heat transmission member is in contact with the heating member is the same as the surface area of the base material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】脆性材料で基材を形成しても割れなどの発生を防ぎ、記録材エッジが複数の加熱領域の各中央付近を通過するようなサイズの記録材を連続で定着しても熱の偏りが発生しない定着装置を提供する。【解決手段】定着装置12は、定着部材28、該部材との間で定着ニップ部SNを形成する加圧部材30、記録材搬送方向と直交方向に伸びて定着部材の内周面に接触して熱伝達する加熱部材56、加熱部材と接してこの熱を均一に伝達する伝熱部材50、加熱部材と非接触の伝熱部材の面から加熱部材と伝熱部材を支持する支持部材57、を備え、加熱部材は、基材56b、基材上に形成された抵抗発熱体56a、抵抗発熱体56aを覆うOC層56cを有し、支持部材は、記録材搬送方向に所要の支持間隔を有して伝熱部材の表面領域に接し、支持部材と非接触の伝熱部材の表面領域が、基材の表面領域と接し、伝熱部材が加熱部材と接する面積は基材の表面領域と同一である。【選択図】図6
