Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight in which white balance adjustment at a high level that induces decrease in display luminance of a liquid crystal panel is not required.SOLUTION: A backlight 42 includes: LED bars 43, 44 in which a plurality of light-emitting devices 5 (LED) that comprises a combination of an LED element emitting primary light and a phosphor excited by the primary light to emit secondary light at a longer wavelength than that of the primary light and emits synthesized light of the primary light and the secondary light are linearly spaced and arrayed; and a light guide plate 6 which accepts the light emitted from the LED bars 43, 44 through at least one end of the light guide plate and radiates the light in a surface emission state to a liquid crystal panel 4. Chromaticity values of the light emitted from the LED bars 43, 44 through the light guide plate 6 and transmitted through the liquid crystal panel 4 are coincident in the entire liquid crystal panel. A wavelength peak difference of LEDs between the LED bars 43, 44 is 10 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14 【課題】液晶パネル上の表示輝度の低下につながるような大きなホワイトバランス調整の必要が生じないバックライトを提供する。【解決手段】バックライト42は、1次光を発するLED素子と1次光により励起して1次光よりも長波長の2次光を発する蛍光体とを組み合わせて1次光と2次光との合成光を発する複数の発光装置5(LED)が直線状に間隔をおいて配列されたLEDバー43,44と、少なくとも一端側から入射するLEDバー43,44からの出射光を液晶パネル4に面状に放射する導光板6とを備える。各LEDバー43,44からの出射光が導光板6を経て液晶パネル4を透過した透過光の色度が液晶パネルの全体で一致する。また、LEDバー43,44の間のLEDの波長ピーク差は10nm以下である。【選択図】図14
