Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To advance timing to start phase adjustment to adjust the phase relationship between a plurality of photoreceptors.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a gear 31K; a driving part 32K that drives the gear 31K; a phase detection part 47 that detects the phase of the gear 31K; a gear 31C; a driving part 32C that drives the gear 31C; and an engine control part 42 that, when receiving a print start instruction, controls the driving part 32K and driving part 32C so that the driving part 32K and driving part 32C rotate at a target rotation speed SPDtgt.
