Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid container and a residual liquid quantity detection device capable of accurately performing appropriate detection according to a residual quantity of ink.SOLUTION: A displacement member 11 is provided which is displaced in a storage part 2 and a detection chamber 5 communicated with the storage part 2 according to a liquid quantity stored in the storage part 2. The displacement member 11 includes a light blocking part 13 that moves between a position where the light of an optical sensor 23 is blocked and a position where it is not blocked according to the displacement, and a regulation member 102 for regulating the movement in a direction different from the direction of the displacement.
