PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which unoccupied compartments in a parking lot can be efficiently identified by using an on-vehicle camera.SOLUTION: An unoccupied compartment identifying system is equipped with parking lot image acquiring means that acquires parking lot images obtained by photographing a parking lot with an on-vehicle camera, upper contour image detecting means that detects from the parking lot image an upper contour image of a vehicle parked in the upper-most space in the parking lot image, detection object area setting means that sets a detection object area in the parking lot image on the basis of the position of the upper contour image, recognizing means that recognizes images of vehicles in the detection object area out of the parking lot image, and unoccupied compartment identifying means that identifies unoccupied compartments in the parking lot on the basis of the result of recognition of the images of the vehicles.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】車載カメラを用いて効率よく駐車場の空車枠を特定できる技術の提供。【解決手段】空車枠特定システムは、車載カメラで駐車場を撮像して得られた駐車場画像を取得する駐車場画像取得手段と、前記駐車場画像において最も上方に存在する車両の上部輪郭像を前記駐車場画像にて検出する上部輪郭像検出手段と、前記上部輪郭像の位置に基づいて、前記駐車場画像内に検出対象領域を設定する検出対象領域設定手段と、前記駐車場画像のうち前記検出対象領域において車両の像を認識する認識手段と、前記車両の像の認識結果に基づいて前記駐車場の空車枠を特定する空車枠特定手段と、を備える。【選択図】図２
