Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel family of cell surface serpentine transmembrane antigens.SOLUTION: The invention provides STRAP-1 protein being the prototype member of the Serpentine Transmembrane Antigens of the Prostate (STRAP) family structurally characterized by a molecular topology of six transmembrane domains and intracellular N- and C termini, where STRAP-1 is a protein of 339 amino acids with a specified sequence.
