Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector with which it is possible to fill up a gap and realize a low loss even when butting faces are heavily rugged.SOLUTION: An optical connector 1 comprises a first optical fiber 21 held by a first ferrule 25 and having a first butting face 22 at the forward end and a second optical fiber 41 held by a second ferrule 45 and having a second butting face 42 at the forward end. The first butting face 22 of the first optical fiber 21 and the second butting face 42 of the second optical fiber 41 are arranged face to face, the first optical fiber 21 and the second optical fiber 41 are constituted from a plastic optical fiber, and a gelatinous optic medium 50 or a rubber-like optic medium fills up a gap between the first butting face 22 and the second butting face 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
