Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved milling method for alumina, as well as an aqueous dispersion of alumina having a lower viscosity and excellent re-dispersibility and a method of preparing the same.SOLUTION: A method of decreasing the viscosity of an alumina slurry to less than about 40 cps comprises milling a slurry comprising an alumina feed material, water, and a dispersant agent; wherein the alumina concentration is less than 55 wt%; the dispersant agent concentration is more than 0.01 wt%; and the dispersant agent has two or more carboxyl groups (COOH) and one or more hydroxyl groups (OH). The dispersant agent concentration is preferably 10 wt% or less. The dispersant agent is preferably an α-hydroxyl dicarboxylic acid, and further, the dispersant agent is preferably selected from malic acid, citramalic acid, citric acid, isocitric acid, tartaric acid, and tartronic acid.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】少なくとも部分的に、アルミナの改良された粉砕方法、及び低粘度で再分散性に優れたアルミナの水分散液及びこれを調製する方法の提供。【解決手段】アルミナスラリの粘度を40cps未満に低下させる方法であって、アルミナ供給材料と、水と、分散剤とを含む前記スラリを粉砕することを備え、前記アルミナの濃度が55重量%未満であり、前記分散剤の濃度が0.01重量%より高く、前記分散剤が2つ以上のカルボキシル基(COOH)及び1つ以上のヒドロキシル基(OH)を有する、方法。好ましくは、分散剤の濃度が10重量%以下である方法。前記分散剤がα−ヒドロキシジカルボン酸であることが好ましく、更にリンゴ酸、シトラマル酸、クエン酸、イソクエン酸、酒石酸又はタルトロン酸から選択される分散剤であることがより好ましい、方法。【選択図】なし
