PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can improve image quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: one or more image forming units that form developer images; transfer parts that transfer the developer images formed by the image forming units onto a transfer object; an endless transfer belt that makes a rotational movement while passing through the image forming units and transfer parts; a drive roller that drives to rotate the transfer belt; a plurality of marks that are arranged on the transfer belt along the direction of rotation of the transfer belt; a measuring part that measures the rotational period of the transfer belt by using the marks; and a control part that adjusts the timing of formation of the developer images performed by the image forming units according to a result of the measurement of the rotational period performed by the measuring part. The peripheral length L of the transfer belt along the direction of rotation is set to a length based on a natural number multiple of the peripheral length m of the drive roller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】画質を向上させることが可能な画像形成装置を提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、現像剤像を形成する１または複数の画像形成ユニットと、この画像形成ユニットにより形成された現像剤像を転写対象物上に転写する転写部と、画像形成ユニットと転写部との間を通過して回転移動する無端状の転写ベルトと、この転写ベルトを回転駆動する駆動ローラと、転写ベルト上にその回転方向に沿って配置された複数のマークと、このマークを利用して転写ベルトの回転周期を測定する測定部と、この測定部による回転周期の測定結果に応じて、画像形成ユニットによる現像剤像の形成タイミングの調整を行う制御部とを備えている。転写ベルトにおける回転方向に沿った周長Ｌは、駆動ローラの周長ｍの自然数倍を基にした長さに設定されている。【選択図】図２
