Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a drainage improver which improves drainage when producing fiber-mixed boards by a paper making process; and a simple method for improving drainage, which can shorten the curing time of the fiber mixed board produced by a papermaking process, impart high dimensional accuracy to the products, and enables strength required as a product to be maintained.SOLUTION: Provided is a drainage improver used in producing fiber-mixed boards in building material boards by a papermaking process. The drainage improver comprises a linear chain cationic polymer and/or a cross-linked cationic polymer. In one embodiment, the cationic polymer includes alkenylamines or glycidylamines as constituent units. Provided is a method for improving drainage of fiber-mixed boards which, when producing fiber-mixed boards in the building material boards, includes addition of the drainage improver to a raw material slurry before paper-making of the fiber-mixed boards.
